InstaFriday!

Linking up with Jeannett for InstaFriday. All photos taken with my cell phone or iPad. I'm happycamperkaye on Instagram.

**********
I'm trying to drink more water and less soda.
It was cold on the way home from church Sunday night.
Mason left an ice chest in the back of my Explorer. I didn't realize that it was full of soda -- soda that froze and exploded when we had the below-zero temps this week. What a mess! It went everywhere.
What a sad waste of Diet Dr. Pepper.
I'm headed for Fair Haven State Park to go for a walk. Beautiful, beautiful day!
I don't particularly like snow or cold weather, but Sunday was pretty fantastic. It was a great day to get out and go walking. 16 degrees, but there was no wind.

We don't let a little snow stop us from grilling!
Mitchell made the Dean's List at the University of Alabama for Fall 2012.
And Mason made Dean's List at Auburn University.
The Navy sticker has been on my vehicle for awhile. I finally added the Army one this week. So proud of my boys!
My Auburn sticker was faded, so I replaced it and added West Point and Alabama. My LSU fan friends did not approve.
My sweet Simone. She came down to the family room and snuggled with me while I was watching Friday Night Lights.
I know it's not healthy, but it sure did taste good!
Mitch loves these but can't find them at any of the stores near his school. At his request, I'm mailing them.
I'm getting ready to hang some stuff in my living room. Using kraft paper cut-outs to figure out the perfect placement.

January Round-Up

A link was posted on Two Peas today to the Katie the Scrapbook Lady website with a monthly round-up idea that I thought was fantastic!

So what did I do this month? Well, not a whole heckuva lot, unfortunately.

I had big plans for January. Big, big plans! I was going to focus on my One Little Word -- COMPLETE -- and get so much done. I had so many ideas swirling around in my head, and January was the month when I was going to get my act together and start tackling them.

Or maybe not. I don't know what happened to me. Here it is -- January 31st. One whole month of the new year gone.

Here's the sad retelling of how I spent the last 31 days:

What I read this month:
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
On the Street Where You Live
and about 75% of Little Earthquakes

I had planned to read five books, so I didn't quite make it. I also read a bunch of blogs and a handful of magazines.

What I watched this month:

I'm not proud to say that I watched Season 1 of Revenge in three days. Yep, 22 episodes in three days.
I think it took me four days to watch Season 1 of Friday Night Lights.

And Season 3 of Downton Abbey started. Fantastic!! Love this show!

What I accomplished this month:

I did finish up (mostly) September in my Project Life album. I say "mostly" because I need some 5x7 inserts. So I'm only four months behind. YAY ME!!!!!

I did Day 1 of Couch-to-5K. And it went well!! Unfortunately, January in Central New York is not the best time ever to start a running program. The weather does not cooperate.

I was very careful with my spending and stayed within budget. (The cold weather helped because I didn't leave the house much.)

My disappointments this month:

I didn't exercise enough.
My eating habits were terrible.
I drank too much soda.
I didn't do any of my sewing projects.
I stayed up too late and slept in too much.
I goofed off too much and my house is a wreck.

Here's my January Picture-of-the-Day. I'm glad I'm keeping up with this!

And that's my January. I'm disappointed in myself for what I didn't get done, but tomorrow is a new day and a new month. I'm ready to get to it!

Sunday Morning Walk

It was 16 degrees out, but the sun was shining and there was no wind, so I figured it would be a good day for a walk. It was BEAUTIFUL at Fair Haven State Park -- probably one of the best walks I've ever had in all the years I've been going there.

I know snow boots are not your typical beach footwear, but most people probably don't go to the beach when it's so cold and snowy! This was one of the few patches on the beach that wasn't covered with the white stuff.
The first 100-150 feet of Lake Ontario are ice and snow.

I climbed halfway up a snowmobile trail to take this picture. Such a spectacular view!

This road doesn't get plowed in the winter, but the snowmobiles have packed the snow down pretty hard, so walking was pretty easy.
The cabins are closed for the season, but the roads do get plowed here.
Lots of ice fishermen out today.
And quite a few snowmobilers, though not as many as I thought would be out.
 Beautiful Lake Ontario!!

Baby, it's cold outside!

Is it Spring yet? Because I'm ready for it.

Good gravy, it's been cold this week. I have not set foot out my front door in days. I don't even go out and get the mail. Greg gets it when he comes home from work.

It's hard to get out of bed in the morning. I've spent a lot of time in the living room by the woodstove reading.

It's hard to get motivated to do anything. I have so many projects I need to work on; so many things I need to COMPLETE (my One Little Word for 2013), but I'm getting nothing done.

I'm hibernating.

West Point Cadet

Morgan's formal portrait came in the mail today. I'm so pleased with how it turned out. He's only required to have his portrait taken during the plebe (freshman) and firstie (senior) years. I'm going to have to bribe him the other two years, I'm sure.

Project Life

I've been interested in Project Life for quite some time and read the blogs of several PLers. Back in August, right as I was about to begin my empty next adventure, it hit me that this would be the perfect time to begin my project.

I know that most people who do Project Life start their albums on January 1st, but my album starts on a Tuesday in August -- my first day to wake up with no boys in my house. I have to say that after years of scrapping pictures of the boys it's weird to focus on myself instead. (Of course, I say that it's about me, but if you look at my very first page, the first picture is one of Mitchell!)

I didn't actually pull out my supplies and start working on the album until this month. A brand new project and I'm already behind. Typical. LOL!!

In the news

Morgan finished Cadet Basic Training at West Point in August.

Every week I have checked the Oswego Shopper, and today his announcement was finally printed.

Better late than never, I guess!
